Because design firms focus on building websites, they rarely have the resources or the manpower to run a full-scale hosting service complete with their own servers. What they typically do is lease space from these hosting companies and sell it to their clients at a markup. You pay more for the space plus lose flexibility when it comes time to change hosting.

Have you determined the graphics you will use? You don’t have to actually create the graphics you want to use but you can at least give the designer a conceptual sketch as a starting point. This gives you more control and can save you money in the long run. For example, a web designer might build in a custom content management system (CMS) so that you can change photos and add new content without having to call the designer who built the site.
